Adam House Turns 15 in 2017 - Thank you to everyone who attended our anniversary event and helped us celebrate 15 years and a new logo! We were blessed by your presence! And thank you to all the volunteers and contributors who helped make the evening a success. We raised $2000 through the silent auction and donations in support of refugees!
Scotiabank Charity Challenge 2016 - On Sunday, October 16 twenty (20) Adam House runners, including 11 former residents, participated in the Scotiabank Waterfront Run Charity Challenge and raised $15,000 towards the ongoing operational expenses of Adam House. Our top placing runners were Bonsa (10th) and Abrah (18th) who ran a half-marathon along with 4 other Adam House runners. The rest of our runners participated in the 5k race. A big thank you to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers.
First Ever Adam House Camping Trip - My name is Emerson and I went on the Adam House camping trip. On Sat, Sept 3 we left for our camping destination, arriving at Point MacGregor on Lake Huron. By 4pm we had set up our tents and were preparing our first meal. We spent 2 nights there. The whole journey I experienced was full of joy, wonders, and happiness. For me it was more than camping, but adventure and being in touch with the pure wild nature. The beautiful scenery from Point MacGregor will stay in my memories forever. The journey made me proud that Canada is now my home. Vive Le Canada! - Emerson from Afghanistan
Annual BBQ - On Sat, Aug 27 we hosted our annual alumni BBQ. This is an opportunity for us to reconnect with some of our former residents. Over 100 people attended this year. It is so exciting to see what is happening in people’s lives: families reunited, marriages, babies, jobs, and post-secondary education! Such a privilege for us to have been a part of their stories. Thank you to Willowdale Pentecostal for supplying the food and volunteers!
World Refugee Sunday - Several dozen people came out on June 12th to join us in worship and fellowship as we celebrated World Refugee Day. There was music, stories, food, and fun, as we encouraged one another to stand with refugees. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support!
